I liked Be Tulum but I think you can find another good options for less money at the Tulum beach (last year I stayed at Ana y José and it was also very good). My stay was incredible, good food, I think they understood the eco-chic Tulum concept, but a price around $200-250 would be more in line with what you get there. Cheers from freezing Ontario! The Aldea Zama development was somehow delayed to the original delivery date, but they have been catching up the last 12 months. The first condo building at the Aldea Zama development is Zama Village, developed by some of the same owners of Aldea Zama. The project was an immediate success, out of the 30 condos I think now they have just 4 left. They've built the Zama Village condos in record time (last week they were working on the finishings and garden). According to the contract they must deliver the condos by May 2012, but they will probably be ready earlier. The Zama Village condo building offers 100m2 (1.070 square feet), two bedroom/two bath room condos. They have luxury finishings and a great design (same architecture as luxury condos in Playa del Carmen like the Taj). The ones at the third floor have a private rooftop terrace with a big jacuzzi and barbecue pit. They started selling for $140-140k (lower levels) and $200-300k the ones at the third floor, now I understand prices have gone up some 15%-20%. The same developers are launching a second project a few yards away from Zama Village if you are interested. They offer good value, the 3-4 condo buildings in Tulum like "White Tulum" are really far away from the beach, and building quality is not as good as the Zama Village ones. The Aldea Zama development, where Zama Village is located, is an eco-chic design development, with security and excellent utilities. I've just taken a look at the commercial area and the works are progressing, probably the first convenience stores and restaurants will open in the coming 4-6 months. Across the street of the main Aldea Zama entrance a big supermarket has just opened, anticipating the population growth in the development. If you want to build your own house, Aldea Zama is offering residential lots of 350m2 (3.780 square feet) at around $100-110k. You can assume a construction cost of around $60-100 per square feet depending on the finishings.
